It’s been 10 years since my first order of doTERRA essential oils. If you haven’t been around here that long (but if you have, THANK YOU!), I was looking to upgrade from the lower quality oils I had been using in my DIY projects.

I started small, with their tiniest starter kit and setup a loyalty rewards program (LRP) order, figuring I could just cancel it if I didn’t use it. I ended up placing my LRP order sooner than I was planning because I went through my starter kit very quickly.

Lesson learned: always start with the bigger bottles of oils.

I used them for nearly a year before I starting blogging about them because I wanted to be sure they were worth all the hype.

Spoiler: they were.

In the years that followed, I became a bit of a zealot when it came to doTERRA. Not the super pushy one who tried to get everyone to join my essential oil team, but the one that used their products for EVERYTHING.

Seriously, I had every single oil. Diffusers going on the regular. I took nearly all the supplements.

Do I still? No. I’ve changed a LOT over the last decade, as have my habits. So I thought it would be interesting to take a look at what I still deem essential (hee hee) in my home when it comes to doTERRA.

True to my tiny apothecary ways, I have my favorite oils that I use all the time, some of which go into The Balm, which I keep in every room of my house, my purse, my car and all my travel bags.

DigestZen is hands down the most used because it is SO damn effective for any kind of stomach discomfort you may have. I use it most when I decide to indulge in dairy or gluten or have too much wine. The whole family loves it and shares it with their friends.

I should note that at this point, my kids have grown up with oils and my husband no longer thinks of it as hippie voodoo. They frequently go to oils first as a solution.

Other frequently used oils:

  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Peppermint
  • Frankincense
  • Helichrysum
  • On Guard
  • Lemon
  • Tangerine
  • Green Mandarin
  • Breathe
  • Oregano
  • Tea Tree

But wait, there’s more!

Other doTERRA products we use on the regular:

  • DigestZen capsules
  • TerraZyme
  • PB Assist probiotics (both the pills and the ones for kids)
  • On Guard toothpaste
  • On Guard capsules
  • Shampoo and conditioner (both the original liquid and the new bars)
  • Herbal lip balm (soooo good)
  • Verage skin care line
  • Moisturizing bath bar
  • Unscented body lotion
  • Citrus Bloom hand wash (big yum)
  • I want to use the Lifelong Vitality Pack on the regular, but I’m terrible about remembering to take it. I feel better when I do. And really, I prefer the Daily Nutrient Pack because it’s less pills to take.

I was very excited about the abode line when it came out because it covered everything cleaning: laundry, dishes, cleaning mix, etc. However, I really don’t like the smell and neither did the rest of my family, so I went back to getting stuff from Grove or making my own stuff with a lavender rosemary scent.

Okay, so I guess I still use a lot of their stuff, which is why I’ve maintained my LRP order for the last 10+ years. I think what’s surprised me most is how much I still use. I thought for sure it was going to be a lot less, since I’ve changed so much, but I think I’ve just gotten so used to them that they’re just part of everyday life.

So do I still recommend doTERRA? Absolutely, yes, 100 percent.

The best way to get doTERRA

If you’re not an existing wholesale member, get started now by getting a kit. Seriously. It’s a great way to save money on oils, there’s no pressure to buy or sell the oils, no monthly order minimums and you always get a 25% discount. And when you renew each year they send you a free 15 mL bottle of peppermint essential oil to say thank you (so basically you buy a bottle of peppermint a year to keep the account).

Check out the kits and get started here. And remember, go with the bigger bottles if you can!
