This time of year has my family a little crazy. Between the end of the year rush with schooling, dance recitals (and the required rehearsals for 5 different dance classes), and the fact that both of my children became ill as soon as the dance rush was over, Mommy is a little frazzled!

Having to find a cough medicine that my children will voluntarily take, is not something I have the time for right now! Luckily, the homemade cough syrup I have been making for years is something that my children love and will never fight me on.

I love that this cough syrup is super fast-acting, and so easy to make. In fact, you probably already have all of the ingredients in your kitchen.

Kid-Approved Homemade Cough Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. Water
  • 2 tbsp. Raw Honey
  • 1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper (You can use 1/8 tsp. for children, however, my children love Cayenne Pepper so I use more.)

Directions

Pour all ingredients into a jar with a lid and shake to mix well. Don’t forget to label it so you know what’s in there!

To use

Give 1 tablespoon to children for cough every three hours. For adults, give 2 tablespoons. Always shake to mix before administering. Will keep in fridge for up to 3 weeks.
