DIY Friday is a weekly post that shares my most recent contribution to diyNatural, an awesome blog designed to help you live naturally and create a sustainable lifestyle.
Once upon a time, most of my food came from a box. I thought that cooking from scratch meant opening different boxes of food and mixing them together. So not true.
Now, I cook all our meals from scratch (ok, my husband and kids help, too). And while it was a bit tricky at first, I’ve figured out some ways to make it much easier.
Check out my tips on simplifying scratch cooking at DIY Natural.
DIY Natural Cleaners
Also, since it’s DIY Friday and I know many of you love to make your own cleaners, I wanted to let you know about a special Spring Cleaning sale.
DIY Natural Cleaners by Mommypotamus is on sale now until the end of March. Use the coupon code SPRING25 to get it 25% off.
This is my favorite resource for natural cleaning recipes and I use it frequently. I highly recommend this book if you want a simple guide that covers all your DIY cleaning needs.
Another idea: A friend of mine makes a certain potato soup recipe quite often and she uses a LOT of different spices… everything from bay leaves to ground mustard! I think the recipe calls for about 10 different seasonings. Anyway, she picked up a bunch of old glass baby food jars and pre-measured all the seasonings for that soup one day, so when she goes to make it, she just dumps in one little bottle instead of having to measure each one. I know when my son is going wild and I’m thinking of a million different things, I’m more likely to accidentally put in too much or too little of something, so having things pre-measured is a good way to simplify cooking. 🙂
That’s a great idea, Jessica! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
